Janel had an old round table that was just crying out for a makeover. After some careful thought and consideration, she decided to cover the entire table with Rub'n'Buff. At that point the table took on a beautiful burnished gold tone, but Janel wasn't finished.

Janel decided to cover the top of the table with a compass rose, and she decided to create that pattern herself rather than using a stencil! Her method is simple enough even for the mathematically challenged among us, and the end result is a beautiful addition to any room.

I hope I'm not the only one that had to Google "Rub'n'Buff."
Okay, so I was thinking "Oh No, not a paint job"..then I saw the after.
That's pretty sweet. Yes, I'll have to Google "Rub'n'Buff" too. ;o}~
I googled it but got something entirely different...
Wonderful!
Love it!
No way I'm googling "Rub'n'Buff" at work.
beautiful!
WTH is Rub N' Buff?
Love the gold!
Rub n ' buff is this magical tube of wax based metallic paint stuff. Hobby Lobby sells it and it comes in a few different colors or finishes. Cool stuff. Janel at House of Fifty has written about it.
Beautiful table!
very nice- not my style but it is well done.
Thank you so much!! What a fun surprise to see my table on your beautiful website!
Would not have chosen this if it were my project, but it is well done. Would love to see some contrast in the hardware and think the pieces speaks for itself without the decoration painted on top. But I tend to like things more simple.
What the What?!!!! This is Awesome! What a fun piece of furniture- the compass adds fantastic detail! Nice job Janel. Nice Nice Nellie Bellie!
I LOVE compasses...so this is AWESOME! Which I had one just like it! Hmmm....maybe time for a DIY of my very own. Thanks for sharing!
Normally I would freak over the painted wood, but for some reason, this is one paint job I really like. Good job!
This is great - I could see this working in a lot of different rooms. Love it - good job!
That had to take a LOT of Rub n Buff (I knew what it was). Like the compass; I'd prefer silver or copper, but it turned out well.
That's a shame... looks like my mother's Duncan Phyfe table...
I can't help but think that it would have been a charming piece if it had simply been cleaned up. Now it looks like the end table equivalent of a drag queen.
Great job!
It IS my style and I love it! I guess I must be a drag queen!
love love love love
Powder coated in turquoise blue or apple green would have been cute, but Im not feeling the gold.Good job on it,though.
I love this! Great job! This would be the perfect gift for my son's Navy memorabilia. I'm inspired. :)
