When it comes to homemaking and child rearing, the Marshall household makes it look easy. They've taken this cold corner of their backyard and warmed it up with a little wood and made it a salad-lover's paradise. The kids think it's pretty badass too. Want to see what it looks like now?
We stopped in over at Pacing The Panic Room to check out the latest work that Ryan and Cole have been muscling away at. Their plan was to grow all sorts of salad greens in the hot Florida heat.
This simple corner of their backyard has been turned into a paradise for young and old to enjoy. There's a stock tank swimming pool, a teepee, and now a wood covered wall and gutter garden. t

Imperfect perfection... love it!
i hate instagram. LOL
FISHGREASE, I was just about to ask if we could see a shot without instragram. So over it.
first reaction: ugh, had to instagram the photo... how original.
Second reaction: that looks amazing! What an improvement. Great job.
wow, how fun! ugh - i hate instagram, too! it's hard to compare the before with the after. would love to see a normal after photo.
For those not so into Instagram, you're welcome to head over to the Pacing The Panic Room blog and take a look at a few non-Instagram photos. Ryan is a well established photographer and uses all sorts of camera and film styles.
Plus... you don't always want your expensive camera gear around dirt, dust and construction projects. You might consider giving the man a break!
"Instagram" aside, the space looks good, a lot of work went into this! Got a nice "lived in" look to it. Cute kid, cute tryke, LOVE the teepee!
(Just don't "get" the Instagram phenom!)
Love it, especially the teepee! Just asking, but should there be a concern of growing edible plants next to the treated lumber?
I'm a Technology idiot. What is Instagram? I love the AFTER by the way!
What a great blank space to work with. I've been working on a small section of my son's back yard over the last 2 years that has a similar structure. Wish I had taken before pictures. In the after, there's virtually no room to plant, hang, or set anything else.
You don't need an expensive camera to take a non Instagram photo. In fact, you can use that same iphone to take plain old photos. Go figure...
Good lord almighty, that's an incredible transformation. Love it.
Thank you SarahRae for the suggestion to visit the blog. The pictures are fantastic! I got a much better feel for the project. What a beautiful young family and a fabulous use of space to play, grow food, relax (in the teepee) and enjoy a home. Lovely!!
"hot Florida heat"? Really? Wow. I guess it gets kinda warm over there! ;-P
we got one of these teepee (6') as a gift and have used it for 2 years and going. we love it. FYI the canvas is not painted when you get them. http://www.magiccabin.com/canvas-teepees_p40.html
I guess we would need a better shot to understand that the door is still functional, but I think the transformation is fantastic. That wall is amazingly gorgeous.
Looks great, but is the door accessible?
Can't seem to access the blog, it tells me I am not invited:(
WOW! This is an amazing transformation. Very inspiring- thanks for sharing!
Isn't this a repost?
Can't see the blog. I am not invited :(
I'm not invited either. ;-(
I find it odd that this is being reposted now. Ryan announced that he was shutting down his blog many moons ago...
