It would be easy to live with an ugly laundry room. I mean, as long as it serves its main purpose, it doesn't need to be beautiful, right? Wrong! Even laundry rooms need a little love. And, judging by Holly's before and after photos of her laundry room, a little love goes a long way!
Once again, I'm amazed that a few changes can make a room over in such a big way. This previously dated room is now beautiful and modern. I particularly like how she tore out the closet and put a sideboard and coat hooks in its place.
Holly blogged about her fabulous laundry room renovation at her blog, Life in the Fun Lane. She even broke down the costs associated with the renovation for her readers.

Even having that before laundry room would be much better than ours right now.
I agree, Nephthys! Given the state of my laundry room right now, I ASPIRE to this "before" room. ;-)
Yes, replacing the baby with a dog was a smart move...
Here's another pretty cool laundry room makeover, complete with DIY'd washer/dryer pedestals.

I don't love the style of the new -- but just the simple act of placing the washer and dryer right next to each other makes the place more rational -- good show!
@ Michael W.: Ha!
Michael W. - you stole my line.
@ Greige and hessilou: Heh heh heh... ;)
@ Michael: yes
Also, where did the closet go? All that great storage lost!

i imagine there is now a closet or alcove in the adjoining room
they removed the whole closet and replaced it with an old buffet? apparently wanting "cute" over practical.
I don't think that the "before" looked all that bad, to be honest! But then I'd love to have a separate laundry room full stop; they are certainly not common in European apartments (or houses, even).
The old buffet is lovely, but it seems kind of wasted on a laundry room

There was nothing wrong with the "before". I actually almost prefer it to the "after". Maybe because the before had a bit of warmth to it from the colour of the cupboards and the after feels cold and drafty-looking. Either way it would be nice to have a laundry room period. We drive all our laundry out to my mom and dad's on the weekend, and I hand-wash and line-dry in between!
Love this makeover… makes me want to get started on my own laundry room!
