Growing up, my Grandmother used to teach me how to knit and crochet. I never had the ability to pay attention to all the loops, hooks and... ohhh... look over there, something more interesting! Even though I never caught on, I'm always happy when I see others who put their mad skills to use, especially when it comes to practical repurposing of items around the home!
This small mattress was part of a child's extendable bed mattress from Ikea. Camilla over at Hygge Nook decided that it needed new life breathed into it as the rest of the mattress was long gone. She hit the craft store to pick up some yarn and got to work!
70 squares later, pieced together with lilac yarn and a little ribbon, this mattress has new life as a pretty (not to mention washable) floor cushion. There's an extreme satisfaction in making something for yourself and when combined with repurposing something that otherwise would have hit the trash bin, well that's double your pleasure!
