Jim had come to hate the heavy, blocky effect of this black shelving unit, with his speakers crammed close together and barely enough room for his storage boxes. The L-shaped arrangement of the mirror and artwork was also getting him down, and he needed more light along this wall. Check out the transformation after the jump...
While this new arrangement, with two storage units, is of course physically larger than the previous, it's also somehow less imposing, lengthening the wall instead of disrupting it with a big black chunk. Painting the storage units white was a wise move, as well, to make the whole vignette feel lighter. We like the way the art has been hung in a line, balancing out the length of the new storage underneath. And the two red lamps are fun, picking up the red from the boxes (which Jim was finally able to drag out from under his bed!).
Nice job, Jim! It's amazing what a coat of paint and a little rearranging can do.
