A big part of "Setting Up Home" (our theme for August here on Apartment Therapy) is deciding on the best spot to situate zones - like your workspace or entertainment area. This smart before and after from Southern Living combines them into one small space, with the added bonus...
...that you can close the doors when you are not working or watching.
We have a similar set up for our entertainment center at home and the difference in the room when we close the doors of the closet that contains the tv, dvd player and games systems is HUGE - it returns the living room to a place of calm and conversation.
Things we like about this makeover:
The neat use of a metal tool cabinet as a tv stand (with lots of storage)
The frosted panels in the closet doors
The addition of task lighting, making the space feel less closet-like
