When Jill found this sad little side table, it was in desperate need of some TLC to help bring it back to life. Jill was able to see past the missing trim, the broken foot and the badly damaged finish on this table to the strong bones and solid wood underneath. With a little hard work and creativity, she was able to transform this table into a showpiece for any room.

After taking the table apart, Jill used Citristrip to remove all the old damaged finish. Once the bare wood was revealed, she debated painting the table, giving it a coat of wax just to see. The wood grain looked so good after the application of paste wax that Jill decided against painting the top, choosing instead to highlight the carved trim details and feet with silver paint while leaving the top natural. The final piece with the silver highlights is a lovely addition to Jill's home.

nice job!
Nice thoughtful effort!
nice effort, but what about the missing trim?
I have that same table, matching the before image (but with all the trim). I've been thinking it should go to goodwill, but this post is making me rethink it.
Amazing job.
Nice touch.
good
very sweet little table once you finished. lovely job!
I love the silver feet!

Sometimes it's best to just be honest and leave missing bits alone, rather than botch an attempt at recreating them. Candidly allowing imperfections can lend character, as it does in this case.
Excellent. Couple months ago, I snagged a two tiered pie crust table at the CS for $8. It's in similar condition as the before pic here. I've had it stashed in a corner in the guest room waiting for inspiration to strike. This might just be it. LOVE the feet, btw.
Inspiring! I brought home a darling table last week. Sadly somehow it was tipped over and the top broke off, Ok! that can be fixed......right! within a day the legs were broken too! altho a easy fix...needless to say I considered it might become firewood,(not really) So just as soon as I can(I have so many projects) I"ll have it back together again, Hope it looks as good as your little table.
Yes, I love the little silver feet, too! Adorable. Nice job!
