Another great project from one of my favorite DIYers, her projects are always creative and impressively well-executed. She doesn't disappoint with her latest project, refurbishing vintage Leg-o-matic chairs. Had you ever heard of these chairs before? I hadn't but totally want some now! See her amazing results after the jump.

The craftswoman is Janine from Salvage Love. She found these 1962 vintage Leg-o-matic chairs at a local thrift store and was smart enough to snap them up. Though, her description of trying to unfold them for the first time reminds me of when I was gifted with an old SX-70 camera in college. Luckily, she flipped the chairs over and saw that there were instructions included.
Her upholstery update certainly modernized the vintage lines of the chairs without interfering with their innate charm.
Be sure to check out her full post for 29 detailed photos and complete details of the rehab process.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Looks great! I love old chairs that have interesting backs like this.
great find
Have a couple (thank you, grandma) but never knew they had a name. Love it!
So much nicer than most folding chairs! You could store spares folded under a bed or tall sofa... Extra seating on demand!
I found 3 Leg-o-matics years ago and loved them at once because their name was so whiz-bang cute. I've never known anyone else who knows them. They are so clever - and impressively sturdy. Love the update on these.
Oooh I'll keep an eye out for these!
Those are fantastic! Too bad they stopped making them.
Beautiful!
Never seen these before! They're pretty cool. I'll have to keep an eye out for them!
Very cute :)
Thank you for not spray painting them!
i was definitely thinking i was going to click on the picture and see a chair covered in legos. i guess i'm the only one. hahahaha
@URBANCRICKET- I would have never sprayed that wood :)
Great job Janine!
I feel like thanking AT every time they give us something like this. Hopefully if inspires people save and not ruin cool pieces.
That is a really beautiful job. Kudos.
awww, they are awesome and happy. Thank you for preserving their character while giving them a nice sprucing up! I wish I had some of these. They are so cute.
where am i looking? chair or wall
They look great! I have a set of chairs I'm currently working on and I was considering painting them, but this has convinced me otherwise. :)
So great! And great to see a 'before and after' that didn't involve paint. Paint is for hiding cheap veneer, not beautiful wood! No matter how well done, I assume the person couldn't find good condition wood in the first place.
