Michelle and Michael sent us an email about their home projects. She's from Northern California, he's from England, they bought a fixer-upper in LA and now they are working hard and documenting every step of the journey to bring their home up-to-date. One of the most dramatic transformations took place in the master bath…
Along with from going from one sink to two, Michelle and Michael's entire room got a style makeover. From basic and bland to a sleek, clean and simple spa style, this reno was a true top to toe design update. And, they did it all with materials and fixtures that are easily accessed — the stores and sources they used are familiar names such as IKEA, Home Depot, Behr and Target.

White Enamel Flatwa...
What a great job. I love everything about it, especially the sinks.
I like that back splash!
A really nice clean, fresh, and organized look!
Verrrrry nice.
I hope the garland comes back for the holidays.
Very nice
Would have been even better if they had continued the tile all the way up the wall, or had a custom mirror fitted for the entire space: all the way up to the ceiling and wall-to-wall.
So, so, so much better!
I agree, should have continued the backsplash. One other thing though, I like the sinks but I think they're too wide and you lose countertop space.
Love the back splash! Great job
I like the strip of tile along the bottom more than if it were all the way up the wall, and the mirror is perfectly fine the way it is. That's just me, though. Increase your budget and the world is your oyster, right? I think they did a wonderful job.
Great transformation!
Wow- Thank you for all the nice comments!! It would have been nice to extend the backsplash, but I was thinking it might have made the room too dark and also, the backspash was a bit of a splurge and we would have gone over our desired budget....
Thank you again!!!
I didn't see a source for that soap dispenser - do you recall wher you got it? It looks like an old seltzer bottle and I'd LOVE to have one in my bathroom. :-)
The soap dispenser is from Target (in the bathroom section). It also comes in clear and blue glass.
Thanks, omoriala!
I love how the square tiles have contrasting grout - on the floor, dark tile with light grout, in the shower (reflected in mirror), the white tile has darker grout. Very nice touch.
Also, in regards to the comment about counterspace...the drawers are very deep and provide a lot of storage. We are both anti-clutter people and specifically wanted a space that didn't provide for us to make a mess of our countertops. But that's just us:)
Where is that basket from? Its pretty awesome.
Tinypuppy- which basket? I would love to tell you...I just don't know which basket you are referring to?
OHH the basket on the toilet? It's from Target bathroom section...but a really long time ago...
i miss the garland. lol
I'm interested to know what made you decide to do two sinks instead of one with more counter space. I probably would have gone the other way. It looks great, though, and I actually like the limited use of the backsplash. It's a nice accent.
I love it! My husband and I have been eyeing the godmorgon cabinets for our future bathroom remodel, you can store so much in the drawers that you dont need much counter space, so i won't be tempted to leave my makeup/hair stuff on the counter!
how is the quality if the sink/vanity? how was installing it?
It's so nice and crisp and clean compared to the old bathroom. I do like the modern trend of cabinetry with open space underneath - it makes rooms feel more spacious and airy.
I agree with the commenters who like the backsplash the way it is. All the way up the wall would have been too looming.
AFter seeing some many disgusting bathrooms on AT before posts, I looked at your before bathroom and thought there was nothing wrong with it. Not sure it needed to be fixed but the end result is nice.
Love how you updated your old bathroom. It's now very zen and sleek. Love the backsplash as is because it ties in beautifully with the floor tiles and adds some more texture. Looks perfect the way it is.
Really lovely- you guys have great taste.
Well done. I like the backsplash as is too. What is your lighting situation? Did you keep the existing or update them?
Wow!
More counter top equals more clutter equals harder to clean. I have had two pedestal sinks in my bathroom for over 20 years and have never missed the counter space. When I go into bathrooms with yards of counter space and oodles of bottles, etc. on top I wonder how much time it takes them to wipe everything off. Not my idea of a good time!
erinpierce, we LOVE the Godmorgon. It was slightly difficult to install due to our existing pipe being too long, we had to hack one of the drawers inside. But aside from that, we thought we got something great for our money.
mizpina, there is an existing heat lamp that we left, which I thought was a good retro throw back. Also, we added a 3 sconce light that we scored at Pottery Barn for 20 bucks!
