Man, I love all these before and after projects this month. The home owners do the hard work, and we get the instant visual gratification from the finished products. Awesome sauce.

Here's another great nursery that went from blahtown to chic city. It took a lot of painting, and some new decor, but the result is fun, bright and airy.

Nice room, but loved that before light fixture; did they keep it?
Love all of that natural light and the bunch of lanterns / tissue paper flowers! Well done.
I was thinking the same thing!
Very inviting!
Excellent work
It's a really cute room and I really dig the painted ceiling but...
Look it, I get that the this floor length and puddled curtain thing scores high points with some people (I love floor length curtains!), but in all seriousness it is downright foolish to be doing that when you have baseboard heating. Yeah, I know, they supposedly "don't get hot enough to do anything," but you know what, I'm not risking it - especially in a flippin nursery.
Apparently it doesn't bother many people, but I couldn't sleep at night.
Never thought about a mirror near the crib. Great idea. Cute room!
nice!
I totally agree with @jess13 re: the dangerous baseboard heater/floor-length curtain combo.
Very cute room, though!
Hi--we did keep the original light fixture. Our 1962 home was filled with tons of crazy wild light fixtures and we've kept all of them! Glad you liked the room :)
There are actually two types of baseboard heat: electrical and hot water. And yes, with electrical, I would never have puddled curtains by the baseboards. But ours are actually hot water, so there's no fire risk. Either way, though, in the winter we actually pin up the curtains so that it doesn't prevent the baseboards from heating the room.
Your room is beautiful. Perhaps the paper lanterns could hang a bit lower?
Baby B is adorable and her room is great - you did a nice job on both accounts! :) My only suggestion (other than the whole baseboard heat/curtains debacle - of which I have zero expertise...) is to paint the inside of the closet the same color as the ceiling - love that color.
Adorable nursery & awesome sauce indeed. Well done!
(@ AT, very loose translation of *before & after* but I'll take it gladly cuz i'm a sucker for these glorious expressions of creativity;)
Wow assume much? Not for you to lecture over.
I get that the heating units are radiant/hot water, as I've always lived with radiators, but still good you pin up the curtains. While I will put heavy wool and cotton items to dry on my big old radiators, I am always wary of synthetic fabrics near them, especially some of the flimsy, newer ones - I somehow expect them to melt or flame if they get too hot.
I don't know how hot your baseboard units get, but if you like the look of radiator covers (which I have become a bit fan of), or even if you like the look of yours just fine but worry about the heat they product when the little one starts crawling around and exploring everything, I just wanted to note that there are places that make wood radiator covers for these baseboard units (in addition to for the big old radiators), some in nice modern styles. You can find them online. The only drawback (besides cost) is that some people think they reduce the amount of heat that gets into the room. I'm always wary of little ones around hot radiators, though, and figure that's worth the trade off in fuel cost, if that's what happens.
wow love the room! great job!
Boiling water and steam won't burn fabric. I have hot water heat also. Gorgeous work - black and white contrasted with the paler blue - I love everything. It's not easy to take a plain jane room with no details and make it come to life. You did a good job.
I know the walls are white but I think i caught a glimpse of a blue ceiling? Loving the idea if it is!
