This old chair has a great shape, but the finish had become worn. Time for an upgrade. Ah, but not just any upgrade. This chair got updated in modern ombre.

What better way to update this old chair than to bring it zooming into the present with a trendy ombre paint treatment? The folks over at The Divine Minimalist started out by sanding and cleaning the old wooden chair. Once sanded, they applied a couple coats of primer. After the primer had dried, they started painting at the top of the chair. Then, they moved on to the middle section, which they painted blue, and finally finished it off by adding navy to the lower portion of the chair. The finished chair is totally out of the ordinary and right on trend.

I do like the different shades of blue but I think I would have painted the top a lighter blue than the white or am I seeing that incorrectly?.
I think it's fun and funky-just not my style.
Very nice paint job! I certainly couldn't have done such a "nice ombre"
It was executed nicely. Unfortunately just about everything ombre looks like paint sampling to me....could never get behind the look.
Is this ombre? Ombre to me is the gradual progression of color change with gradiation. Spray painting the lower half of a chair a different color is not ombre. Not criticizing the chair and/or its painting, rather the description used.
Oh, I think it's sweet, and a real improvement over the dull old thing it was before!
I keep thinking that it still needs some little decorative detail in the wider "plank" of the back... maybe a painted design or decal?? Just a little touch to use that space.
I agree with @Lyonstill - it would look nicer if the top were light blue. And perhaps some sort of fun decal or stencil on the back....?
Oooh, I would LOVE this is in grey and black!
Ug.
whimsical. But probably not to everyone's taste. I'm imagining the home this might fit into, and having a hard time. If in a "modern" situation, the chair's old-fashioned elements jump out and wouldn't blend with either hard edged pieces nor modern organic shapes. In an old fashioned situation, the crazy paint won't match anything. I wish there was a picture of this newly done chair in its new home. My imagination just isn't up to the task...
I see this as a project for my neo-traditional dining room. Let the old random chair collecting begin...
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good job!
Not to my taste, but the paint job was well done.
Cool!
AWESOME!
