When Meg's sister had a baby boy, she knew she wanted to give her new nephew a special present to welcome him into the family. She found a dresser on Craigslist desperately in need of a makeover and saw the potential for the perfect gift. Though many would agree with her husband's assessment that it was only good for firewood, Meg had a vision of what a little paint could do.

After a lot of work on the damaged veneer, Meg was finally ready to get started on her creative paint treatment. After painting the dresser red, she began painting diamonds in contrasting colors before using yarn to place the lines for her argyle pattern. The final step was several coats of shellac to make this dresser-turned-changing table nearly indestructible. Though this project was a lot of work, the end result is a beautiful one of a kind gift for her nephew's nursery.

White Enamel Flatwa...
How groovy is this?! Baby Gage is a lucky little boy.
I love that argyle!!
Wow, that's impressive.
oh my wow!
Stun-ning.
That's great! Way to go!
This is real "yes!!!!!!!" Inspired and well-executed:)
This has got to be the best "after," at least for furniture, ever!
That is awesome. I love every element you included; the handles, the initial, the colors, the design, the love.
whoa, sweet Jesus!! amazing!!!
I agree with m'elizabeth. Best furniture makeover ever.
This is flippin fabulous.
Are you f*&$in' kidding me??!! What a lucky baby butt little Gage has, to be able to rest it on such a lovely piece. Major Auntie points were scored here, I can tell you. The palette used reminds me a lot of the work of illustrator William Joyce-- if you haven't checked out his work, definitely do! Some of it would look lovely in frames hanging in Gage's nursery over this table. A+, with a happy face :)
Just read the original post-- kid's name is actually GaBe. Still love this project. Still a lucky little nephew.
Outstanding!
Wow. When I read "preppie" I was prepared for something in pink and green, or hideous school colors. What a delightful surprise! Beautiful colors and exquisite execution.
Gorgeous!!!!
That's beautiful!
Okay, the placement of the handles is driving me nuts (doesn't line up with the pattern!), but this is a beautiful paint job and a great inspiration.
It was a shame to lose that marquetry, but the end result is absolutely charming and beautifully executed.
Nice to see a piece for a baby boy that doesn't rely on blue, too!
That is so stinking cute. Love the colors.
thanks for catching the typo thatkris- the lucky dresser owner is indeed Gabe not Gage!
my eyes actually got wider - impressive
I'd surround it with circus animals.
So darn cute!
Well done. Truly beautiful piece.
What a great job!
YOU ROCK GIRL!! THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST RE-MAKES I'VE SEEN!
