After removing the upper cabinets from her laundry room in order to create more useable open shelves, Sarah hung onto the narrow cabinets which she knew still had some life in them. Though most of us would probably think of reusing such cabinets in the basement or garage, Sarah transformed them into a centerpiece in her living room.

By removing the doors and adding on some fun feet and decorative trim, Sarah turned those ho-hum cabinets into a wonderful sofa table. The bright orange paint makes a bold statement and the cabinets themselves provide a ton of great storage with a fairly small footprint. Best of al, this is a project you can attempt even if you don't have any spare cabinets hanging around; both Craigslist and local secondhand stores often have small blocks of cabinets at very reasonable prices.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Very clever, and very well done! What a great idea, and so well executed.
Very nice. I love to see something that's destined for the garbage get a fresh new life.
Love the color!
Very clever and a great job!
Wow, that looks great! The interior color really transforms the piece.
Wow! I never would have thought to do that, but it looks great! Good job! Makes me wish I hadn't thrown out our old cabinets... almost.
Wonderful!
What a GREAT idea! Wonderfully executed too!
Well done! A+++
Well played Sarah. The feet make all the difference.
Wow! I would NEVER have guessed that was once kitchen cabinets!
Thank you everyone! I'm so excited that Apartment Therapy shared my project. I loved making a new table for my family room out of something that would otherwise be discarded!

Great table and color! What a wonderful reuse idea!
I just do not understand why people remove doors. Do you guys love to dust? I have open shelves that I had to get boxes for, because the dusting was killing me.
Very clever. Looks great, and the color inside is terrific.
Where did you get those curtains? I've been looking for some like these.
oooh...great job!
and where are those chevron curtains from? MUST. HAVE.
I LOVE THIS! Especially the interior orange color. Gorgeous!
Awesome! I know a lot of people who would love to do have something like this!
Great for display and open storage. Bravo!
I love this. Thanks you for recycling! - I did look briefly at your blog. Please don't paint that dresser. It just needs some mild tlc.
First before and after I've liked, in about 2 years of glancing at many of them.
nice! such a great idea!
Just brilliant
We used a cabinet as the holding basket for our laundry shute. It works great as it holds a full cabinet of clothes, then we just open the doors and the clothes fall to the top of washer & drying right below for sorting & spray'n'washing.
sooo smart!
CLEVER, CLEVER, CLEVER, CLEVER.... :O)
