October was a ridiculously busy month for me. I welcomed three sets of out of town guests, as well as renovating the studio over my garage. Earlier this week, I posted about the bathroom. The final project was replacing the dingy, smelly carpet with wood laminate.
Though the previous tenant had the two year old carpet cleaned before vacating, it had an overwhelming musty odor, an attempted repair where an iron had burned the carpet, and the seams were coming apart. She claimed it was because of an uneven subfloor, but it was actually because she had A LOT of traffic in and out of that tiny apartment.
You'll also notice that in the before shot the refrigerator is in the middle of the livingroom. Don't ask why...it was a request by the former tenant who also asked to use this larger unit rather than a more compact one I had readied for her.
Thankfully, the new tenant is my cousin who just moved to Los Angeles to attend a local university. Since I already know she's tidy, conscientious and design savvy, I didn't fret about the little, yet time-consuming details going unnoticed (or being abused).
I'm thrilled I was finally able to replace the mismatched base moulding in that main room. There were three different styles, believe it or not! The terrible things that people do to property...I'll never understand.
