There are many items that appear to be too cumbersome to repurpose. We'll either put them on Craigslist for someone else to deal with or drop them off at local establishments willing to take them, but this homeowner went above and beyond and managed to turn the drum of an old washing machine into something sleek and chic!

The outside of a washing machine is easily picked up by those who cruise for scrap metal, but you can put the inside drum to work in your own backyard. After removing, legs were added and it gives this homeowner a great way to keep his parties warm and well lit a little longer.

You can find the full tutorial for the project over at Instructables from user Dr. Qui. One commenter does suggest that if you take on this project you double check to make sure there's no lead shot inside a ring just inside the upper lip. Sometimes top load machines use this for ballast and if you forget to double check, the fire could heat the shot and when hot enough, shoot it across the backyard. Although that might make for the best party of the year, the risk for injury is great, so don't forget to check!
