Closets are often the spaces that get neglected in even the most stylish and organized of homes. As I get ready to start my spring cleaning, I'm pulling some inspiration from Sara's coat closet transformation.

After seeing what Sara over at Russet Street Reno did with paint and an old vegetable bin, I'm not surprised to see that she was able to transform her coat closet from plain to cute with a just a little color.
Actually, Sara did more than just add a little color (Ralph Lauren's Reflecting Pool, to be specific). Working with the existing framework in the closet, Sara adapted one of the wood shelves and added another to give her family more storage. Painting the shelves and trim in white brings a crispness to the look of the closet.
Sara spread the work out over a few days so you can see the full project in three separate posts Coat Closet Part 2, Coat Closet Painted, and Our Closet is Full of Coats Again.

lovely! the color is gorgeous and perfect for a space that small and compact. as a NYer, i have to comment that it's technically a bedroom (according to most slumlords in nyc) since it has a window. hehe.
i think this would only work in a closet with a window... which most of us don't have. That said, a lighter color would probably work, and that color is GORGEOUS
<LOVE>
Beautiful. Too bad they are eventually going to have to put a coat or two in it and cover up all that color.
wow! what's not to like?
Very nice!
I love the way the color works with the wood hangers.
Thanks so much for the feature! We love our closet, and are very grateful the window let me use that awesome color. Hop over to my blog if you would like to see the color formula mixed into Behr paint!
Beautiful! But without a window covering I worry that constant sunshine will bleach out whichever coat is hung closest to the window.
A window in the closet. Wierd.
That said, the color is wonderfully oceanic and makes me want to snorkel.
Now they just need some cute coats for the cute closet.
I love the subtitle of your blog: "DIY or Die Trying." LOL! The remodeler's version of "Cake or Death?"
I am so darn lazy. I have all my hats/gloves/scarves in open baskets near the front door. Have recently decided I need hooks in almost every room to keep from carpeting the floor and/or furniture with discarded clothing. If I were younger I'd resolve to change the habit. At some point though, I realized hey, if it hasn't happened in four decades of adult life, it's time to consider that it might NEVER. Hooks. Need. more. hooks.
very cute but super trendy color. alas, i must have to just accept color being trendy as long as we're not all drowning in white....
so nice
This works because of the window; otherwise it would be to dark. Love that color though!
