My grandmother had one of these vegetable bins, filled with potatoes and onions, sitting in a cool, dark corner of her kitchen. It looks like the kind of thing I would see at a garage sale and give a little chuckle of nostalgia but I would pass it up. Sara saw past the bin's original use and, with a little paint, turned it into a stylish table.
Sara shared this little table makeover over at her blog, Russet Street Reno: DIY or Die Trying. And this is exactly the kind of project that makes DIY so delightful! Sara picked this vegetable bin up for $14 at a garage sale, drawn to the look of it. One thing she didn't like was the look of the wood. That's nothing a little leftover paint from her home's front door won't fix! The new color completely transformed this old vegetable bin into a stylish little table. Sara completed the transformation by replacing the handles, which she spray painted blue. Since she used leftover paint on the project the only expense was the new handles.
