Jessie wanted to bring some drama and panache to this room, a loft in the home she shares with her husband, Mike. They had formerly been using this room as storage (hence the two old televisions) but it was finally time to whip the room into shape so that it could really be enjoyed …
We've extolled the virtue of stripes many, many times here and this project is just another example of the power of this paint treatment! Jessie's white and navy stripes pack a lot of punch in this space, jazzing it up from its formerly bland look. Jessie used Martha Stewart's Wrought Iron paint to make the stripes — and she even shared the process of making them on her blog, Imperfectly Polished, so you can make them, too!
In addition to the striped paint treatment, Jessie also painted the backs of the shelving unit in the same color, bringing new depth and a finished touch them. She then went the styled up the shelving units with some flea market finds that she spray painted to match her the colors she chose for the window seats.
I adore the mix of colors and patterns that Jessie chose for her window seats, valances, and accessories. That green is a fabulous accompaniment to the navy blue paint and the mixed patterns of the seat and valances keep it interesting.
