This sweetly feminine bulletin board wasn't always that way; it's the result of a very simple though no less effective transformation. Check out its humble origins after the jump...

Yikes. This, ahem, unique mirror may have seemed an unlikely candidate for a makeover in light of its plastic frame. Craftynest has a complete how-to for the process, using leftover materials from other projects.

Now THAT'S a make over! What a difference.
Wow - what a great result!
i kind of like the before mirror.
I always suspected that ornate plastic frames had potential. This is proof!
The greenish bright white spraypaint doesn't really work well with the wall colour, the fabric choice, or anything really. It looks more like plastic after than before. The project might have looked better just swopping out the mirror for the fabric panel and rubbing some off-white antiquing wax on the 'gold' bits to tone it down IMO.
That's lovely!
Excellent before and after, i honestly think i wouldn't have been able to envision this (something i pride myself on) and the after is spectacular although i would have retained it as a mirror.
Excellent make over!
I think this was really clever and I love the way the fabric, ribbon and the paint go together. Nice. Inspires me to look in my garage now... I may have buried treasures!
I don't particularly like either, but I have to say that the renovation was a DEFINITE improvement over the BAARRRFFFF mirror.
I wish I had the before mirror to paint all the leaves black and the roses red and hang it on an eggyolk yellow wall. But I'm crazy like that.
Ooh! I did the same thing with a plastic "bamboo & cane" frame. It was hideous- a really nasty brown color. And uh... I found it on the side of the road :)
I painted mine glossy black, and I get compliments on it all the time. Nobody guesses that it's plastic!
That's HILARIOUS! My Mother used to have that very mirror in her bathroom when I was a child!
amed studio — I'd have to agree with you. I was disappointed in the final result of that white paint. I wanted to paint over it with a warmer color, but ran out of time. Generating one new project every week creates a definite time crunch. I had hoped others could overlook its shortcomings, see the potential in the idea, and be inspired to create something even better. Thanks for your critique.
