I just love Cinderella stories involving second-hand furniture. When I saw this blog entry about scoring a $40 Parsons Desk (usually $349) from my dream source, West Elm, and then making it even better--I was excited. A sander and a coat of paint produces a unique piece of accent furniture!
Naomi Stein of Design Manifest purchased this West Elm Parsons Desk second-hand with a few scratches and dents and turned it into a hot pink creation all her own. In terms of styling, I love the contrast between the bright pink and royal blue walls. Well done!

Sprout Side Table
Was this in Texas? I am asking because I swear I saw the exact same desk at a thrift store here... and had similar visions for it. But my daughter talked me out of it. (And I listened to her- darn it!) This desk looks fabUlous! I have to say though, that the styling makes it look even better. The whole vingette is so beautifully styled! I am feeling some serious envy! And I am not going to let my daughter talk me out of buying another gem like this!
It is certainly a great improvement, no question. Im not so sure I like the pink with the red stools. I think Id prefer a more subtle color table and brightly painted foo dog lamps. Good job nonetheless
Awesome! The desk is really secondary -- you did such a great job with color and the arrangement around it that you could have put almost anything there in that color and it would look great! Love it! Great example of bold color combos working really well!
Is that shelf above a log? So cool.
That turned out beautifully! And I love the red and pink together!
Fantastic job on the table!! Though I almost squealed out loud when I saw those stools! I can't believe they were from Penneys! I checked and they don't have them anymore. I couldn't get to your blog fast enough to find out about them. ;) Fabulous!!!
Those end tables and the foo dog lamps, too. Great eye!
Ain't power tools great for making the neglected beautiful again? Good work.
My cats broke one of my foo dogs and I still have the lonely one. A lamp!
I love it, really funky and cool!
I am not of the color combinations but you pulled it together nicely...Plus, I think I've seen this before...house tour maybe?
The side tables/night stands also look like they might be DIY/hacked from another style... would love some investigating to be done on those (and possibly another post?). Beautiful space!
I LOVE the color combo! I love a room that doesn't half-ass the brightness :)
Love it!!
I bet those are Ikea Rast.
That is so great that you even did this at all....but look how successful you were! Your color combinations are brilliant. Never mind that not everyone has the ability to appreciate reds and pinks together.
Gorgeous!

The photo is on the website of the company that makes panels to jazz up IKEA furniture. The lamp tables are IKEA with their product affixed to the drawers.
Love the color choice.
Just thought this was pretty funny considering the price and color. http://www.walmart.com/ip/20551594?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227015159421&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=&wl3=17426420590&wl4=&wl5=pla&veh=sem
