What a difference paint, ingenuity, and style can make! Well done, Will.
More "before" shots of the house are posted on flickr.
See more of the home in Will's English Gentry in Cabbagetown House Tour.
If you saw Will's English Gentry in Cabbagetown House Tour, you'll be surprised to see what the rowhouse looked like before Will got to it. The home was completely covered in rental beige and white.

While I think the new paint colours are an improvement over the overwhelming beige, I find the rooms could use a bit more brightness...
Wowza!
This should be an inspiration to anyone suffering with a plain-jane interior...
Normally you wouldn't expect dark colors to work in such a small space but with Will's great sense of style he pulled it off. He actually made it look spacious. He made lemonade out of lemons.
I absolutely love it! Although I still have an affinity for white and cream, I love the personality and color.
Those "before" shots are heinous. A truly impressive transformation.
beautiful. i love it even more now.
whoah! Very nice! It is my experience that extreme shades of gray are an excellent choice in this situation. I lived in a 1970s suburban split level with some parquet floors and some beige carpet, and a deep purple-hued gray killed the beige tract house dead.
Fantastic! I love all the dark, rich colors in this home! Very modern and very cozy!
Suddenly I feel like painting my white walls... gray!
The bathroom in particular is much improved. I'm having a tough time judging the transformation, though, because of the squirrely aspect ratio.
No fireplace in the before shot? Was it retrofitted or just a facade?
I really like how you incorporated that weird little window (possibly a basement window?) into the design by grouping artwork around the window frame - very slick, very subtle - in the photos, at least, it's barely noticeable.
Great job, I really like the colors & decor.
Wow. How did I ever missed this tour? Could you be so kind as to hand over possession of the bedroom, I would be most appreciative.
"No fireplace in the before shot? Was it retrofitted or just a facade?"
It's clearly just a mantle - In his original house tour, he mentions that he wishes he had a working fireplace of any sort.
Amazing! From rental blahs to rich, deep, efficient and homey!
This is so inspiring. I'm moving into a new house with a lot of these same finishes, so I love seeing how someone else tackled similar projects, with smashing success.
Amazing transformation.
It's like night and day. What a worthwhile transformation!
Love the colors.. but after going through the original house tour, how in the world is he supposed to get to the closet in the second bedroom, behind the yellow curtain? I've never met anyone who's had so much closet space they're like "Nah, don't need that extra closet"
Very nice. Am I the only one entertained by the profusion of grey rooms on AT? Not that I don't love 'em...and I am/was a participant in the trend. I just painted over my grey living room walls with a jaunty green. Grey is a hard one to get right, and I wasn't successful. Nicely done, Will.
I double and triple the Wow! What a difference a little style can make! Congrats!

love the dark grey once again! a colour I plan to paint my lounge and bedroom, but hoping I get the shade right.
bedroom and living room are nice but the kitchen looked much better before. not my style and the blue is to country looking for me. too old looking. like that chandalier? Not in my house.
Is there any way to see this without all the distortion?????
OOOps, nevermind, I found the house tour.......
LOVE IT. I love how that living room now looks huge because they extended beyond the "natural boundaries" of the room. The mantel and end table, and especially the hall behind the sofa, it looks like it's part of the living room.
Love what Will's done with the place, but just to be fair, the original paint was waaay nicer than usual "renter's beige." Not fleshy or bland at all.
Impressive!
Wow.
Just... wow.
Hats off.
Insane that something so generic and blaaah could become so luxurious, unique, and tasteful! Love the dark interiors!
This is beautiful. The use of dark colors in such a small space makes it feel cozy, not cramped. And those cupboards! I love that cool blue/gray. Such a vast improvement.
how did you decide art placement?
P.S. I love it!
That bathroom is sexy. The bedroom not so much. It looks like a vampire from twilight might like it.
