These closet doors probably look familiar. You can buy them in most major hardware stores, and are found in builder-grade homes across America. They were also in Roxanne's daughters room for years, in perfectly decent shape. Instead of replacing them entirely, Roxanne found a photo as inspiration, and decided to give them a little architectural upgrade to try to mimic the look.
Although she considered going the DIY route, Roxanne wound up buying trim from O'verlays who worked with her on the design. After emailing them the final measurements, the trim arrived in the mail and she was able to stick the entire thing on the door herself with some Goop. Although hers is permanent, you might be able to do a rental-friendly version with some double-stick tape.
Thanks to Roxanne for the idea and inspiration! You can read all about the project from start to finish over at My Honeycomb Home.
