You know we've got bar cart fever over here at Apartment Therapy these days, but not everyone gets lucky and comes across bar carts that can be revamped. So you just might love this DIY project that turns a simple side table into a bar cart — and uses an unexpected material you might have around the house!
I found this awkward little table for $5 and knew I had to have it. With such a unique shape and a price that couldn't be beat, I couldn't pass it up. The question was, what was I going to do to it? I got sucked in to all the fabulous bar cart inspiration floating around on Pinterest and knew that was the direction I was going to go.
My father-in-law owns his own tile business, so I had him tile and grout the inside with some amazing gold tile that he had laying around from a job that never got completed. This stuff would have been quite pricey if I bought it myself, so I lucked out there.
I kept it simple and just painted it white, knowing that all the fun accessories would add some color. I added some trim around the edges and attached some wheels to the legs and then this baby was ready to roll!
