Lizzie was handed down an antique dining room set. While the buffet and side table were in pretty good condition, the dining room table was a mess. She wanted to avoid the cost of professional refinishing, so she dug in all by herself to give this pockmarked piece a facelift.

Good save, Lizzie. The makeover pays off even more because she later found out this set is actually a collector favorite, Stickley furniture.

Says, Lizzie, "It only took Murphy's Oil Soap, steel wool, Danish oil, Howards Feed-N-Wax and elbow grease to turn this frightening mess into something really amazing. I cannot believe I let that poor antique furniture stay so hideous for so long."

See more pictures of the process at the Hip Soiree.

Thank you Lizzie!
