- My room makeover::
- After moving almost every 2 years across continents & countries, and living in semi-furnished houses, our daughter's room had nothing but her bed and its mediocre headboard. The summer we moved into the new house, she was on her way to college and I wanted to feel there was a place that was made only for her - handmade and with love.
Bed $13: I upholstered the headboard with a shower curtain I already had & embroidered her monogram.
Bedside Table purchase & remake: $70. Found on Craigslist.
Wall clock remake: $2 from a completely broken clock.
Art: $10, unique with her most loved places printed from Google maps.
DIY Jewelry box: $36
IKEA Malm dresser remake: $13
DIY Mirrors: $ 16
The total cost for this room remake - including furniture and accessories - was $160.00! All the projects with instructions on my blog mydearirene.com
- My makeover advice::
- The advice I would give to whoever wants to do any kind of make over is the same I give myself every time I start a new project: take your time during the “before” period and consider all the alternatives, whether it’s paint color, a piece of furniture, textile or hardware, taking the time to think it through is worth your while!
I usually print the picture of whatever has to be redone, hang it above my computer, and think about every alternative before making the decision.
- What I love most about my new space::
- The best thing I love about the new space, is seeing my daughter in it when she comes home.
