- My room makeover::
- This makeover started because we fell in love with a 72 inch, rough-hewn, farmhouse table from Arhaus Interiors.
First, we knew the heavy light fixture had to go. We found a marquee sign for under $100 at Todd’s Flea Market. After several trips to the hardware store and some shaky triceps, we had a flush mount light.
Second, the wall-to-wall carpet was in terrible condition and our landlord agreed to refinish the floors if we removed it. After a long weekend, and lots of sweat, we had 'just like new' floors. We laid a $75 cowhide to break up the wood.
Third, we needed chairs. We wanted Eames shell chairs, but discovered that authentic ones were 2 inches too short. Lucky for us, Modernica makes taller replicas out of fiberglass... Not plastic but real fiberglass! Swoon.
Finally, we painted the walls, installed a space saving bar shelf, and hung a memory wall.
All-told, we finished the room after two years of saving, and another year of projects!
- My makeover advice::
- My advice is to be patient and do LOTS of research! We were so close to giving up on our Eames dreams, but after countless hours of research we found Modernica and then we never looked back.
- What I love most about my new space::
- We adore this space! The memory wall wraps us in nostalgia, the chairs and light keep the apartment airy, and the table adds warmth. This dining room feels like home.
