Easily found on Craigslist or at thrift shops, these storage tables are great for hiding magazines or media. But Merrill had another idea. Check out how she transformed this side table into a stowaway pet bed.

From Merrill:
I found this octagonal side table at a thrift store for $15. With some black paint and new knobs, it was good as new.
It has some wonderful storage, but instead of using it like normal people, I custom fit it with a plush pet bed. It allows my pets some privacy and a nice place to sleep but gives me the option of hiding it away when ever I have guests or functions at my house.

Thanks, Merrill!

Really nice Merrill! Love the idea and it looks nice and cozy for your puppy!
My pug sleeps in a kennel in our living room and I have been trying to find ways to cover his metal kennel, it's nice and roomy but just is not pleasing to look at.
This is awesome. I'm always running around the house before people come over trying to tone down the fact that the cat rules the house. Would be nice to have something easy to hide. And pets love cozy spaces like this.
Very convenient. Clever too. I like it! :)
Perfect for a small dog - and nicely executed.
You can't see them here, but I love the knobs chosen to compliment the table.
Really nice paint job. And, if yours is like my '60s Lane drum table, a two day old kitten could push those 'magnet' doors open + I doubt the owner is such a ditz that the dog would be accidentaly shut in (or suffocate). Even w/o being a pet bed, I like it.
Looks so much nicer than the before version. What a great job!! And I love that the pup gets to enjoy the result!!
I love this, it's perfect. I just saw a table like that recently for $5 or $10, and I'm thinking I might have to go get it.
I have a dog bed laying around that our dogs never use, because they prefer their crate. I bet they'd love the bed if it was stuffed into one of these though.
My burrowing puppy would love this!
How perfect!
We have a drop leaf table underneath which we have our dog's bed (60 lb guy). We refer to it as his condo. He loves having a little space of his own.
What a great idea... My dog loves to squeeze into small dark places and she would LOVE this! Maybe if I can find a piece of furniture big enough for her, we can make this and throw away her $25 canvas "house" from Target....
Great idea; I may try something like this for the cats!
I love this idea, but I would need a really big table to hide my St. Bernard's bed inside!
Thank you Apartment Therapy for featuring me on your website today! I'm a huge fan!
Yep darned clever and cute.
I remember seeing a few of these on Craigslist couple months ago while I was looking for something else and thinking, "that would make a great cat bed," great minds think alike Merrill!
You've inspired me to actually do it!
Nice . . . but my five cats prefer sleeping ON my bed, not just in my bedroom.
Such a great idea! I'm definitely going to make one for our cat some day.. added on my wishlist :)
Love it. And I don't even have a pet.
Ba ha ha, this is brilliant, wonder if I can make it for my 50 kilo dog ? :)
My mom and her little dog are living with me until she can find a place of her own. THIS IS BRILLIANT. I will now scour craig's list...THANK YOU!
Really nice. Dogs do like cozy spaces--one of mine, a Lab, always pushes her fleece bed under the IKEA Poang chair. This looks a lot more elegant, & good use of space if you have a small dog (or a huge table)>
Terrific redo-- I'm all about the pet hacks. Wait, that didn't come out right...
Or at least I *think* it's terrific-- I see it's time to drag out my semi-annual complaint to AT about their ads overlapping the photos. I can't be the only one this is happening to, am I? It's so intrusive! In this instance, half the dog is covered over in the "after" photo. I can't even see most of the best part of the project! Is it a Mac thing?
great idea - looks fabulous - want one - and I don't even own any pets :)
What a great final piece! Sadly my dog is a Lab and wouldn't quite fit in there.
This caught our eye because it has a great Barnwood picture frame up on top! Hope to see more of that!
Great idea and cute dog!
That is too cute..If I had that...sigh, my puppies....it would be easier if I moved in it..and let them take the bed...
I love it and I'm sure my Peanut would love it too :)
