- My room makeover::
- No words can describe how dreadful our kitchen was. A previous ill-fated attempt at covering up the 80's oak kitchen with "faux" aged blue and green paint left the kitchen looking dreary and unappealing. After living with it for a few years, we finally took the plunge and created the kitchen of our dreams. We wanted the kitchen to look authentic to our Victorian home, so we chose white inset cabinetry. We also completely reoriented the kitchen to make better use of the space. We did this renovation 13 years ago, and although there's a couple of things I would change, namely the granite countertops and lack of backsplash, I think it's held up to the test of time.
- My makeover advice::
- Don't think you're stuck with the original foot print. If the layout doesn't work for you consider changing it. Look at lots of pictures on pinterest and decide what you want the space to feel like. Don't feel pressured to follow trends, they may not stand up to the test of time.
- What I love most about my new space::
- Everything! And the fact that I can still tweak it now and again by adding different floor coverings or painting the walls.
