Jennifer picked up this cute little dresser for free on Craigslist. It was perfectly functional but lacked any stylish details. She considered updating it with a chevron pattern but, in the end, figured out how to get the geometric feel of chevron in a totally unique way.
I decided it would be cute to make a chevron in the shape of an EKG reading—one heartbeat. I used card stock to cut out my large stencil shape. Layer by layer, I traced the stencil on to the front of the drawers and then taped along the traced line. To finish it off, I painted the sides of the drawers in the four colors, one each.
This project was definitely a doozy—if I do another, I'll make sure to go with a flat-front dresser. Because the drawers curve inward, I had to continue the lines across multiple drawers but ALSO continue them down the curves of the drawers in order to make the lines continue on properly, which almost doubled all of the work. In the end though, this dresser came out so cute that I don't even mind!
