My room makeover::
I wanted to make over this room because... well, you did see the before picture, right? It was very, very gross. And super ugly. Luckily, I was able to renovate the bathroom before I moved into the house, so I never had to use it this way. While I really prefer to DIY (DIM?), I did use a professional for this renovation. Poor guy... I'm a total control freak and I drove him crazy with my constant input. Hey, I had a vision!
My makeover advice::
Bathroom renos are hard when you only have one bathroom in the house, so my advice is to do it before you move in. Not very helpful, I'm afraid. Most people don't have that luxury. So, my other advice is to renovate for you, not for resale. Others may disagree, but, unless you know your living situation is temporary, then you should do what you want. I know my bathroom won't appeal to everyone (you know... like those people with crappy taste...), but I LURVE it, so that's all that matters.
What I love most about my new space::
I love that it's "me". It worked out very well that it was so crappy to begin with. When you move into a house where the bathroom is "nice", but not your taste, it may not make sense to rip it out and start fresh. It feels like a waste. So, that's actually more advice I have for you. Buy a crappy house. Then you can remake it into EXACTLY what you love.
