It was an exciting moment when I realised the large pallet I had just scored from a business down the road fit perfectly between the open french doors and the lattice on the back deck. It was a sign. Clearly this pallet was meant to be my day bed.
When I knocked on the door of the receiving dock I was actually interested in the wooden crate that had been sitting outside for over a month, but they had plans for the crate so they offered me their giant pallet instead. I didn't really have a plan for it yet, but there's always something you can do with a pallet, so I took it home.
When I realised how well it fit I got to work!
$12.00 Castor wheels from the hardware store.
$0.00 White paint leftover from my storage units from the garage.
$5.00 Foam mattress from a second hand store.
$10.00 Weatherproof fabric for the mattress cover from reverse garbage.
$3.00 Old film festival flag from reverse garbage.
All the painting, sewing, eyelet punching and drilling was done by us over a week and now we have the perfect place to sit and enjoy the backyard.
