File this under amazing. How many gray concrete bridges have we all driven, biked or walked under without giving them a second thought? It turns out they are just a canvas waiting to be painted, and in this instance, given a very convincing LEGO treatment.

You don't have to be a LEGO enthusiast to appreciate what street artist Megz was able to do with a dingy gray overpass. Within four weeks time, and with full support from the German city of Wuppertal, he brought unexpected joy to a largely featureless landscape.

The bridge has turned into a must-see local attraction and is a shining example of what can happen when cities embrace their artists.

Awww, very cool!
love it! why can't we do that here?
awesome!
In Europe, they actually practice urban design.
(Unlike in North America, where it is another term for decorative light posts, benches and garbage receptacles on the street.)
very cool. I wish they had continued the paint treatment down the side onto the vertical. It looks perfect for a lego application.
That would bring a smile to my and my 4 yo face every time we drove under it.
Great idea. There is much ugly in our concrete world. I think people would be a little happier if ugly things around them were spruced up.
In the US west, most of the new interstate construction includes embedded art. I'd assumed this was happening everywhere.
- Bridges: rattlesnake; cowboys & trains; sandcranes
- Overpasses: mission; lizards; sunflowers
The artist did an amazing job - the proportions are just right and the effect is totally convincing.
I think the world needs more of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremont_Troll
They've been doing murals and a lot of embedded concrete art in our new bridges and overpasses too. They've also been painting beams as well.
