While her daughter was away at camp, AB Chao got to work transforming her daughter's little girl room into a big girl room fit for someone all grown up and ready for high school. We're a bit jealous as it's a nicer bedroom than most of the bedrooms we've had as adults. Check out the impressive after pictures under the jump:
Using her great eye and some help from Ikea, Crate and Barrel, thrift stores and her sewing machine, the bedroom looks chic and modern and a lot of fun. We love the layered rugs on the floor, the dramatic bed and the pops of yellow and orange throughout. As one commenter put it, This makes us want to redo every room in the house. The space alone is gorgeous! I think it's bigger than my 1 bedroom apartment.
In a word: lovely.
Lucky girl! I especially dig the shades.
dang, I'd take the before OR after any day. lucky 14 year old.
well done! enjoy. this is the last time your daughter will let YOU redo her room. take it from a mom who knows. (smile)
wow! What a lucky girl!
i prefer the "before" - it's sort of understated and elegant (minus the strewn clothing everywhere, but that's life intervening). the "after" looks a bit contrived, as though Cute Adolescence Pictured by a Mother were recreated for a sitcom set.
Stuff strewn about not withstanding, the before is nice, but blah in comparison to the after, much better the white seems better, the pops of color help to bring some life to what was before, a blah room.
I have a feeling this lucky girl may find herself keeping things a bit more tidier than before, thanks to storage etc.
I find that if the room becons you and you love it, you'll find a way to try and keep it reasonably tidy as much as possible.
I also prefer the before, the cutesy and white-washed cleaned-up look of the after, is a little too magazine perfect....
The before pictures had so much character, especially with the books strewn about.
Love. This is so inspirational. :)
