This thrift store find has great lines, but the rest of the piece needed a bit of work. Kate from Centsational Girl put a little bit of love and a whole lot of elbow grease into fixing this piece up. Check out her cane chair transformation into a timeless piece for her living room.
First things first, she took apart the chair until only the frame was left. Then she gave that a good coat of glossy white paint. For the fabric, she went with a soft yet durable fabric in a taupe color. One smart lady, she skipped the trendier more playful fabrics to create a lasting piece for any room in the house. Then she stretched the velvet to cover the back of the chair and secured it with staples, after which she refreshed the foam and batting on the back of the chair, and then stapled on the fabric to hold it all together.
For the seat cushion, she used the old fabric as the template and traced it onto her new fabric with a disappearing ink marker (handy!). Then sewed up the new seat cover and attached them all to the chair frame. Lastly, she glued into place double welt cord and sat back to admire her work!

I love it! I've got an old chair waiting for my time an energy... and for me to work up the nerve to take it apart! ha!
love it too! i have the EXACT same pair of chairs that are waiting in line (score on cl for 40, yay!).
this chair looks great!
I never ever say this, but I strongly preferred the before (at least as it's represented by the picture here). The lines are still good, but in the end, that chair has simply lost its groove. The character has been renovated right out of it. Kind of sad really.
