Hmmmm, it's definitely different. But I think it's lacking a bit of character. I think you might have taken just a little too much out of the room. But the new window seat and dining table/chairs do look nice.

I think the white walls and the white table need a POP of colour. Other than that I love it

Whoa! The stove leaps out now, and the white is cheery. True, it's spare, but once you put the people in there, it's balanced out. The solid pillows in great colours make a good backdrop. The "life" is put in the right place. Well done.

The only suggestion I might have, and it is perhaps even too much, is to consider plants, and perhaps to remove the stacked chairs to a closet, until company comes.

Could we see more of these "before & after" looks on AT?

WOW! The room looks fresh and modern. And for those that feel you took too much out - we all know how things find their way in and you've left plenty of room for that to happen naturally. Great job!

Amazing!! Kudos!! congrats!! I love it. The art stands out, the room feels bigger, and ya just wanna sit down and enjoy.

P.S. Put the bowl of oranges back on the table. Then it'll be uber-perfect.

While I feel the first one was too cluttered, the second version is too bare for my taste. It needs a rug, or a larger, vividly hued art instead of the gull.

I don't really get the trend of an odd-man-out chair...I'd like it better if the odd fifth wheel got taken out.

i like it! i'd change the flooring though, maybe to something warmer. then maybe the room wouldn't feel sterile

think the modern feel of the table really clashes with the wood stove.

I guess i am behind the times but i think the old table and chairs were warmer and more inviting.I still would have de-cluttered by removing the nick nacks and stools but then I would have simply added color with paint, reupholstered the window seat and added new art and a rug. (and as a fan of old and interesting clocks i would have kept yours)

But i would say if you were looking for drastic change, mission accomplished. i would be interested to see more of the house, Does the mid century mod table flow with the rest of the house?

It's nice that the place is cleaned up and de-cluttered - and the new fabrics in the window seat look nice but the old ones didn't look so bad...

However the old table and chairs seemed to have some character and solidity - This looks soulless, like the pages of a CB2 catalog. I think it would have been more interesting to give those old chairs a nice fresh paintjob and get an interesting vintage table to paint to match - and it may well have ended up costing quite a bit less to boot.

i actually like the before shot better! it may be a bit cluttered but it feels warm and comfortable. the new look is so cold and bare. but if you just bring back some of the personal touches it would be lovely transformation.

i love it and love the power that some simple changes can have on a space.

Great changes! Consider a hanging lamp above the table- you can plug it into your track lighting. Something really beautiful and dynamic.

after is 200% better! i don't even mind the flooring (I thought from the before shot that there was no way to salvage that room...) I didn't even see the stove until the after shot - great job!

fresh and pretty. wish i could go in and do this to some of the homes of my relatives!

i think the table and chairs and tile combo looks very sparse and cold, not too inviting.

i think it would have looked fine without switching out the old furniture, just getting rid of some of the crap on the floor and stored behind the stove and then painting the walls.

unless you're going to remove the stove and the brick, i think you should embrace the traditional feeling of the place. it kinda looks like a student rental now, especially with the throw-away dining set and uninspiring window seat.

kudos for taking the trash out though!

I love it! Taking out all the nick-knacks allows you to look at how light moves over the various planes of the room. There's just enough art and color for my tastes (although the bowl of oranges would indeed be a nice touch). The "before" screamed DUSTY to me, the make-over looks clean and open.

My only suggestion would of been to strip and paint your existing table and chairs white. I agree with some of the other posts that those new chairs looks a bit...flimsy (not the one odd man out though).

I like the 3 vases that are on the right side of the 1st picture. They would look nice on sitting on the edge of the brick where that rectangle picture is. I also think that the 5th odd chair should be taken out. Also I agree that the bowl of oranges would look good back on the table....
But, over all I love it.

Dramatic change indeed! I love your new look. Why not throw a round rug under the table? :) Also, I love the picture of the seagull on the wall where the clock used to be.
