"It's not so much about the design or the wallpaper or the furnishings we chose, but how the sum of our decisions seem to have brought the house to life," writes blogger Lisa Giramonti about the transformation her home was undergone since moving in last year. After seeing current photos of her LA-based home and comparing it to the photos of the home when she and her husband first bought it, the difference is truly amazing. Take a look at a few more photos after the jump!

Amazing! Love the mix of color and pattern.
I absolutely love wallpaper, I need to consider this myself. There's something so charming about it.
apart from the staircase and landing (personally am not very bullish on the effect of the wallpaper and the paintings, but like the carpet), the transformation is amazing! the kitchen/ dining area is BEAUTIFUL.
So beautiful. I love what's been done to the kitchen especially.
Nice living room. Hate the 3-fold dresser mirror on the wall of the foyer with the arrangement obscuring the mirror.
I want to go to there!
I love how warmer and brighter it all is! Though somehow I find the living room pretty tame compared to the rest. Love the living room's furniture and decoration, but the white walls?... I guess any wallpaper would have put this overboard, but I'd be tempted to put a dash of color on the walls. Then again, I know that if I ever had the money to fix a house to my taste, guests would probably get a seizure!
There's a lot happening in that wallpaper.
is that a pet pig in the first after picture?
Hmm. I love the wallpaper in the foyer/stairwell but wonder if there was another colorway that wasn't so contrasty. It just seems a bit much by the time you get to the top of the stairs. Also agree about the three-panel mirror--the original one was more in scale to the half-round table. I think the living room looks really nice but agree that a richer wall color would set everything off better. Overall, I like how energetic the house is for being so traditional. It's not my taste but it is clear the owners have a strong vision for what they want to do.
I love the wallpaper. It's strong and gorgeous, and I really don't have an issue with the three-panel mirror. The house has amazing and lovely personality.
I like the after based solely on the pig in the picture. He/she really steals the show.
I prefer the stairway "before." Interestingly, I would have changed only the light fixture, and added artwork perhaps, and they chose to leave the light as is.
The other transformations are lovely!
Pretty sure that's a dog. Haha. No curly tail!
I live for her entryway/stairwell.
A Bloomsbury Life is a great blog.
Wow -- night and day. That wallpaper is absolutely fantastic.
Haha! It's a sheep!! Look here: http://www.meier-germany.de/index.php/cat/c1_sheep-sheep.html/XTCsid/60696c289e86c1e9a2d709272309671c
I know them. I've sold them. They are absolutely gorgeous!
Wow! What is that wallpaper!?! Just wonderful!
love it! especially the wallpaper :)
looks like Flowering Quince by Clarence House wallpaper. love that pattern
love it! love it! love it! Looks like a magazine. Great use of pattern.
Oh my! This is outstanding! I cannot believe how all of the patterns still lend themselves to a peaceful surrounding. Great work!
Dunno, looks like a sheep to me.
I agree that the kitchen is much improved, but the branchy wallpaper in the entry just hits me as creepy and claustrophobic, like I was trying to climb through a hedgerow and got stuck half way through. Glad to see others appreciate it, tho.
Now, my nitpick: what exactly is an LA-based home? Does the house flit about the country on business? :)
I ADORE the wallcoverings in this home...and that staircase is gorgeous!
What a magical transformation! I love it! Brilliant choice of wallpaper!
I love the transformation, but like some others have noted, the "Before" hall table and mirror are far better than the "After"...
What's of particular interest to me is the kitchen - That's not a complete gut-renovation, but a refacing and reconfiguring of the existing cabinets.
Love it! I love the wall paper and the paint colors!
Dang! I can't see all the pics!
I adore that wallpaper, but I have to agree that the three panel mirror is too large for that little table. I love it anyway, but I think the table from the first photo would fit it better.
have to say the only one that wowed me was the living room, as the before was pretty atrocious. i think i liked the before kitchen better. as much as i love wallpapers there does seem an awful lot happening there and i fear it would tire me out pretty quickly. then again, it's not my house.
Thanks for this post -- love the house and the blog.
I find it brave and memorable in a good way!
Finally! A Before and After with the same perspectives and lighting!
Looks great!
Well, they had to do SOMETHING after that fellow stole their lamp...
Oh, and I think the kitchen was especially brilliant. And I love the stairwell.
I really, really, really, really like that these are from the exact same perspective. It let's me play "spot the differences," and you can really see the impact of certain small decisions. For instance, it appears they swapped out the cans for the recessed lights in the kitchen for ones with a white interior as opposed to the black one. This really makes a big difference in how you perceive the ceiling--it sort of recedes away and lets the kitchen stand out more. I would not have noticed that kind of detail without the pictures being more or less identical.
And now I'm going to see about switching out the cans for the recessed lights in the hallway on the top floor of our house, which has a very low 7 1/2 foot ceiling.
Lovely. I like the transformation of the entry/stair the best, although I personally couldn't live with such a busy pattern. And the Before furniture in the living room was so hideous!
Bold and daring. The architectural details of the home make the wallpaper possible. In my 50's bungalow it would never work. I think it is beautiful and impeccably done and I wish I had the talent to have such a great vision.
Two thumbs up.
So lovely, and I will be scouring her blog thoroughly. The feature on Patricia Knop is beyond fabulous.
I like the living room after alot.. but the hallway with that wallcovering is just too much and would tire of just my looking at the sample for a day. Also, prefer the mirror and entry table in the first.
I think it's a perfect use of wallpaper! Traditional, yet modern at the same time. Very creative.
I love all of it! That paper is perfect for a pass-through space like the stairwell. The scale may be a little off with the mirror and table combo, but the shapes are nice. And the dark accents in the stairwell and the kitchen really add some depth and interest. Plus, the furniture in the living room is a tremendous improvement. What was obviously so much time and effort was very well-spent!
This is an amazing upgrade!
