This week we shine the Unplggd energy efficient light onto one of our fellow online design-decor colleagues over at the good taste fortified blog, Design Milk
. Jaime, the founder and writer at Design Milk (and surprisingly much more) gives us a peek behind the doors of Design Milk's
How would you describe your overall space?
How long have you been there?
Cozy, white. It’s actually bigger than my last space, so I am very happy to have more room to work with. My ever-expanding business ventures and hobbies are starting to catch up with me in terms of “stuff”. I have recently developed this “problem” where I won’t buy anything that’s not white. I’m having color issues...
Just 3 weeks! As you can see, I haven’t had the chance to add window treatments or hang much on the walls. We recently moved back east from San Diego, where we lived for the past 2 years. Although we’re happy to be back, we certainly miss the weather this time of year.
In terms of layout and organization of your work space, what are specific details that you’re particularly proud of?
I am mostly proud of the fact that my business efforts have been successful enough to warrant a useful home office.
What’s on your desk/computer desktop at this moment?
Desk: Coffee, bowl of cereal and messy papers that Beans, my dog (pictured in photo), decided to eat while I was out.
Desktop: Logo PDF comps of our parent company logo from my designer and photos of my living room so I can Photoshop some curtain options.
I keep a pretty clutter-free desk and desktop when I can otherwise I feel overwhelmed.
What do you hate about your workspace?
Wires, cables, and plugs, oh my! I have so many cables sometimes I think my apartment will spontaneously burst into flames. Next on my to-do list is to get something to conceal and organize them. Any good suggestions?
Any tips or advice about office décor, layout or organization?
Resources (equipment, furniture, art)?
Understand how you work before you begin arranging your furniture, decorating, or buying anything expensive. Even though something might look good, it could potentially be in the way and hinder your productivity. I move things around all the time until I figure out what works best.

Most furniture & accessories by a little Swedish furniture company called IKEA. You might have heard of them.
I found the rug on sale at Target for $15.
The Oh Chair was found on Craigslist for $15.
I live and breathe Apple, so everything I have either has an “i” in front of its name or costs twice as much as it should. But it’s so pretty!
I own Design Milk
and I run and write for BAKERY
