For one, it acts as a lap cushion to keep the heat of your machine off your thighs. The unique bit of this design however is in the pocket located on the top of the case.

Your laptop charger stores nicely in this pocket while the end that plugs into your laptop is threaded through an internal hole so that you can keep the charger hidden but still plugged in.
