Stylist and expert shopper Benny Aguilar has a knack for creating collections. When he downsized to a studio in San Francisco's Nob Hill neighborhood this talent became even more apparent:
The studio apartment oozes style with a distinctively masculine edge. Everything — from the purple leather chesterfield sofa (a steal at $600!) to his objet and portraits — is expertly arranged. The best part is that this is it. Even as a stylist Benny says: “I don’t believe in storage. All that I have is right here.”

It's really beautiful...amazing what some people can do with so little space, while others make a studio look exactly like they are living in a sparse box.
I'm sure there'll be 50-11 comments about all of the "stuff" on the ledge of his headboard and whether he's afraid it'll fall on his head.
I'd really like to see more of this place. HT, please!
I love your space it's perfect. BEAUTIFUL
Stunning!
#3 about having that much stuff over your head in a quake zone (I've been in too many big quakes to ever do such a thing. Native San Franciscan here).
Too much stuff in this place for me; I understand Benny doesn't believe in storage, but has he ever heard of editing?
I agree that there's too much stuff. The basics of the space are really great, I just wish there were fewer knickknacks aka "objets" haha. I'm a fellow studio-dweller who likes his philosophy of making a small space look lived in, but this is a little too crowded for me.
Maybe he's using Museum Putty or Museum Wax.
I really wish this was a tour. I dig it.
Love that headboard, love the studio. Maybe a hair too busy for my tastes, but I think it works.
the "stuff" is what makes this apartment so interesting. i love it! Great inspiration for one of my design challenges- how to decorate the mantel. What are Benny's decor sources in San Francisco?
I love how the muted colors on the walls really make the colorful accessories POP! What a great space, it really shows personality.
Beautiful!
I love this, particularly the lights in headboard freeing up real estate on the side tables for flowers!
Beautiful space-- this is the first place in a while that's caught my eye this way.
I agree with Jean, must use Museum putty ;) and why not!? ;)) Love the space. Enjoy your treasures as much as you can. I enjoyed your space! :D *I'm a Californian and a treasure collector*
super fun house! i'd love to see more!
By just looking at the pics I know I could live there. Everything looks so comfortable and cozy, what more does a person need?. Love it.
I don't believe in storage either (see the article). I love this place.
This place is perfection and I'm a minimalist! If you're going to do "stuff" this is a great way to go. The place is cozy and very inviting. I want to go hang out and have some drinks with Benny. I wish I was seeing more spaces like this in mags like Elle Decor. This makes me feel something and everything else you see is so lacking in emotion.
I want that chest!!!!
Superb Benny!
This one of the most beautiful spaces I have ever see! Absolutely. And I like the "stuff"
Gorgeous.
Magnifique. I've got to study these pictures to figure out how they've made so much stuff look so orderfully, comforting and ultimately very beautiful. (Oh yeah, it's all the beautiful stuff).
I have issues with homes where every surface is completely covered. It looks like a retail space to me. Where do you set down a glass of wine or unfold a newspaper?
Although I need fewer things in a space to feel not claustrophobic if I am living there - and actually like storage so that I can change out pieces from time to time - the space is beautiful.
The bold use of large paintings on the few open wall spaces really draws one's eye around the room. I also love the headboard with built-in!!! reading lights. I've never been a fan of cookiecutter bedside lamps and this is a great alternative.
I would like to see this as a tour.
Oh my! That bedroom is delicious (even if the bedside tables are mismatched)---I love it!
I LOVE, NO MAKE THAT I ADORE THIS APARTMENT. NOT TOO MUCH IN THIS PLACE AT ALL,..PLACEMENT IS PERFECT, COLOR IS FABULOUS, VERY BOHEMIAN CHIC, ARTSY, LOVE THIS PLACE! Benny, can I move in with you?? lol...
I agree with idontgiveasht, too many places lack emotion and charm. It is wonderful you are using all the space with such flair.
Sexy! Warm and inviting, i'm purring. :)
Lovely items but, visually that much stuff I find overwhelming in my own home, I have extensive collections too and so store some of mine and rotate seasonally or whenever the mood strikes. My new mantra is: Edit, Focus, Coco Chanel (remove something after I think it's 'just perfect').
I like the portraits...otherwise a tad too cluttered. Nice. :-)
I think I love you!
