Design: Bent Metal House Numbers
Materials: Stainless Steel, Plain Steel
Designers: Jonah and Mackenzie Griffith
"House numbers are so overlooked! Our design takes a modern font and material and sets them apart. This interesting use of bent metal brings a new dimension to a traditionally standard product.
Our design philosophy is to bring 'out of the ordinary' feeling to the experience of daily living. Conceptually our work focuses on bringing humor and simplicity to fully functional design."

"To make the house numbers jump off the house we utilized simple manufacturing methods. The nature of the material provides a distinct design direction and countless finish options. We give our house numbers personality through custom finish: powdercoat, rust, and brushed or polished stainless steel.
The dimensions for each number are 6.25"H x 3"W x .5"D."

I don't know, something about it, I just dig.
However, these could probably be really difficult to read from the street, especially if the "numbers" themselves are the same color as the house, just using the negative space from the silhouettes.
I'd affix these to my door and use them to hold the mail I leave there for the mailman to take. Right now I try to wedge it under my door knocker but that only works with one envelope. Any more than they fall when I shut the door behind me.
@teeze - you've got a great idea there. I'd put up a few of these on my wall and use them for mail storage! But we rent, so our numbers could change.
I love the mail idea too for indoors! I'd just pick my favorite number(s) or it'd be neat to have letters as an option, since I would then get a J for my name.
Good idea Teeze & Pi! I'd do 1,2,3 or 7,8,9 or something like that.
I like this. Its very blu dot.
I agree with others that they would probably be hard to see, but most houses, at least our's, have the house numbers in different location. This would work great on the mail box itself, for example.
Using them as letter holders indoors is also a fantastic idea. or if they were strong enough as "hooks" for coats. Lots of possibilities here.
What are the prices?
@lizzykewl the website says $19 each
My only concern would be that the rusty ones would, unless they're sealed OVER the rust, leave rust streaks down the side of your house after exposure to the elements.
I think the shadows would make it hard to see from the street too.
Not excited. I like innovations, but they need to be improvements on older designs, and these just strike me as places for spiders to hide and trash to build up. And I agree they could be hard to read from any distance. Although, now that I consider, they might be really cool for apartment numbers in hallways... So add a star for that use!
These numbers bring in a new dimension and could even be lighted from behind. I like the simplicity and playfulness of the design.
@jstdoit--LOVE that idea! I'm obsessed with candles, so I would probably try to figure out a way to use them with these numbers. The mail and hook ideas are great as well. Maybe Jonah and Mackenzie will venture into letters someday . . . :-)
I love this idea! I have a bright yellow house so a bright contrasting color (or the rust ones)would work great! The 3D effect created by the shadows are the best part! I also agree with @teeze, these would be great for holding mail! Another perk is that the small mounting location and standoff numbers would work great with angled wood siding...
Love how versatile they are, could work outside or inside...what about letters?
I'm not too worried about readability. Most house numbers are difficult to see as is. At least these are interesting. I'm a big fan of the design -- an easy adjustment to add creative punch to the exterior of your home. Now if only I had a house to attach them to... ;)
I like these, but not for the intended purpose. They don't like they'd be very visible/legible for house numbers. Inside, however, opens up possibilities. Letters would be nice.
Where can we get them?
