Q: Last year we left the tree up until June because we couldn't figure out a good place to put it (the only reason it eventually came down is that we moved). Our new apartment is much bigger but still has very little storage space. We only have two tiny closets just big enough for our clothes. The tree's box is too big to fit under the bed and I'm not sure where else i could hide it. Any ideas? Please help! I love christmas but i dont want the tree up all year again!

White Enamel Flatwa...
Would it be possible to re-pack it into a new box (or three) that would fit under the bed?
I don't know if you've budgeted for a new piece of furniture, but an armoire or entryway storage bench may accommodate a tree box.
Buy a real tree and box only the ornaments... that's my solution anyway. You can easily store boxes under your bed.
I agree... real tree!
You say you only have two tiny closets - would you not consider investing in a wardrobe or two?
And, sorry if there's an obvious answer to this, but when Americans find themselves with very little closet space why do they never seem to consider getting a wardrobe? What am I missing?
How sturdy is the box? You could cover it in fabric and place it where a headboard would be or what I did with some boxes in my first tiny apartment put them behind the couch, like a console table. It's "stored" and you can use the top to store or display other things.
Turn it into a coffee table when not in use. Some attractive fabric and (depending on the lid style) a piece of plywood will work just fine.
In response to some of the other comments about get a real tree... some of us live in areas where real trees are shipped in and look pathetic. Plastic is much better.
@stationeryfiend I think it's because most people only know them as TV cabinets and they were ghastly when they were in fashion. I love antique armoires, myself.
I wish I could offer the letter-writer help but I go the same route as Loora. Real tree, only store ornaments. And lights, and garlands and wreaths...
If those "tiny" closets have any space high up, could the tree be packed in multiple boxes and made to fit up there? Otherwise Brenda.Reynolds.74 probably has the right idea.
Get real tree, get nice wooden box for the decorations and then use it as coffee table, or change religion.
to the commenters who suggest a "real tree", many cities have ordinances against having "real trees" in multi-family dwellings due to fire hazard. So, your suggestions may not work for this family.
My suggestion is to have a "skinny" apartment christmas tree and then it "may" be easier to store under the bed or in the back of a closet or on a high shelf. I've used skinny trees for 15+ years and the only challenge is that large ornaments look good only on the bottom 20%. I've found other places at home to hang the larger ones. Another advantage to a skinny tree is that they take up less floor space.
I hope you are able to find a better place to store your tree, other than buying a new fake tree every year!
