Maybe it's because everything is so cold, quiet and birdless in the Midwest now, but bird-inspired holiday decor works well and brings some life inside. These items don't scream "Holidays!" should you want to keep going with them throughout the year (minus the tree skirt, anyway). Shown above, birdseed eggs that you can use as ornaments now and hang outside in the spring....

I found an identical peacock feather wreath at Michael's for $19.99 a year ago.
Love the bird seed eggs. We make something similar every year to hang in the yard, pinecones dipped in peanut butter (raw unsalted) and seed of different kinds.
Love the eggs! Fun stuff, all of it... I've always liked bird stuff for the holidays. Unfortunately the feathers attract a lot of feline attention. I brought home this peacock ornament from Target last year that Magellan just stared at all the time. I managed to hang it out of his reach on the wreath on the wall but he got hold of it when I was taking things down and mauled it. Fortunately it's fixable, but I think Mr. Peacock may have to come live at the office.
