While we love a cleverly shaped knob as much as the next person, sometimes you want to go classic, either to fit with the period of your house, or to bring some old school glamour to a modern piece. Click below the link to see our list of some of our favorite classic hardware sources.
Best Classic Hardware Sources:
• Horton Brasses Inc.
• Kor Hotel Group

Historic House Parts - really good prices, and they shipped my order immediately.
Rejuvenation, out of Portland, OR. Not only is their stuff beautiful, but they are so wonderful to deal with. They carry old-school hardware and lighting. I especially love their doorknobs.
I despise Restoration Hardware because last year I bought a light fixture from them that they sent to someone in the wrong state, without even telling me about the mistake. I had to call them and have them track it down. Then when it showed up, it was a piece of crap. Ugh. Hate them. I will never buy lighting from anyone other than REJUVENATION!!!

And I agree that Rejuvenation is a great one as well.

Lee Valley. The website isn't the easiest to navigate (especially if you don't know the name of the type of doo-hickey you want), but their catalog is great eye candy. Decent prices, from what I remember.
Re: Lee Valley
Since it's so hard to navigate, here is a link with many of the fun pieces I like:
