As we tip towards spring, I wanted to recommend something practical and uplifting for your home. These rugs vary in price, but all are colorful and fresh and create a really nice juxtaposition in a more traditional setting (as you can see above). Vivienne Westwood's Cave Girl is one of collection of three tartan designs, all handwoven in wool. For more, head below...

I love Aelfie rugs, designed in Brooklyn and made in India of 80% wool and 20% cotton. This stunner, the Aziza, is on sale and retiring soon.

New from Jonathan Adler, this Jaipuri Kilim style rug - 100% cotton - comes in deeply saturated reds that will warm a room but not overwhelm.

I have this rug in my living room, layered over another, and I wanted it the moment I saw it at the IKEA preview last year. Part of their special PS collection, Margrethe Odgaard designed this, along with a whole collection of textiles, inspired by her travels through Eastern Europe, where she "found rural homes with walls covered with textiles, floors covered with painted tiles and mirrors decorated with stained-glass foil."

Another flat weave, this wool and cotton rug is a bit more muted, but still eye catching and cheerful enough to brighten a whole room.

On super sale over at West Elm, this 100% cotton durrie is not a primary, but a soft, midnight blue with pops of grey to offset the pattern.

From Annie Selke's awesome Dash and Albert rug shop, I couldn't resist throwing in a crazy bright chevron down here at the bottom. For those of you who prefer quieter colors, it comes in four other colorways.
