From Russia With Love (1963)
We love a good Bond movie - for the formula, the grit, the glitz, the girl, the Bond, and the interiors. In anticipation of the latest, Quantum of Solace, we've been catching lots of old ones on t.v. lately, often inspired or amused by some of the design choices. From 1962 to 2008, here's a glimpse:

I never noticed the fake Tiffany lamps in Diamonds are Forever before. Quite seventies.
My favorite Bond interiors are those of the hotel on the French Riviera and Piz Gloria from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"
Dr. No's lair (complete with stolen Goya!)
Honey and Bond's rooms/cells in Dr. No's lair
All the interiors in You Only Live Twice
Personally, if Ken Adams (designer of the classic Bond movies and Dr. Strangelove) could decorate my house, I'd be very happy.
Where are the pimp mobiles from "Live and Let Die"?
Drax's lair and his space station, both from Moonraker.
The design (both interior and graphic) are about the only things that got me through QoS last night!! I absolutely loved the hotel (the black trumpet bottom lamp, especially) and the Opera House was more-than amazing.
Thanks for posting this!
Quantum of Solace is entertaining at least... a lot of high quality visuals, but the movie as a whole could stand to lose six or seven fewer chase scenes
Yeah, Piz Gloria is great, so is all of You Only Live Twice - Osato's office was fantastic and fabulous - black leather couches, spare artwork, wood paneling - the hallways had great spotlights too (I can't remember which film it is, but there is an interior in the UK with great lighting too). The earlier Bonds were more 'cutting edge' than the hip 70's Roger Moore interiors - though Scaramanga's Junk had a great Joe Colombo inspired interior in 70's brown.
And Vesper Lynd had a great penthouse with mod furniture in the original Casino Royale, along with body disposal ovens.
I just saw QofSolace today. Loved every minute. and every chase scene. I love the very very contemporary air of this one.
As a lifelong Bond addict, this post makes me so happy.
And mbarilla ... I thought the same thing about the hotel and the opera house ... wow! Although I did NOT like the desert hotel... felt like an empty mall to me. And during the scene in the great room there, my date leaned over and said, "everything in this room looks like it was put there just to be smashed soon."
Oh, and I personally love the mountaintop clinic in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I always wanted cool doors like that when I was a kid.
personally, I loved Octopussy's bed, who wouldn't want to wake up in all that satin and guilt?!
I fell pretty, so so pretty....
lol
