We all have thoughts and ideas that pass through our head throughout the day, and sometimes it's great to keep track of those moments using a journal. Sure, you could have a Moleskine by your bedside with a fancy pen, but if you find it easier to type things out on your Mac, then it's time to find a journaling app that suits your needs. Fortunately, we've got some of your best options on the following page, so hit the jump and let's work it out.

Day One: The best kind of journaling apps are the kind that have lots of input options, because if you can't quickly and easily write down your thoughts, you just might put it off. Day One not only has a Mac version with quick entry ability and a reminder system, but also companion apps for the iPhone and iPad. Bonus: it syncs with Dropbox as well.

Mariner MacJournal: Sure, you could just have text in your journal, but what if you want to add movies, photos or more? Mariner MacJournal brings all that to the table, plus you can publish your entries to various blogging sites as well.

Thoughts: With a very skeuomorphic appeal, Thoughts organizes your ideas into books kept onto a virtual shelf. And although you can use it for journaling, it's also versatile enough for to-do lists or any other notes you want to take.

Scrivener: Although technically not a journaling app, Scrivener is a powerful word processor with multiple formatting options to choose from. Maybe you want to turn your novel into a book someday — just set it up as a piece of non-fiction, and you're ready to write.

Sprout Side Table
I am a hufe fan and faithful user of DayOne app. I've been wanting to journail for the longest time but never kept up with it. I tried every journal app out there. DayOne takes away that feeling of 'have to' and makes you 'want to' journal. The fact that I can sync with Dropbox and that all of my stuff is in one place regardless of whether I use my computer, iPhone or iPad is just perfection. Love it love it love it! I highly recommend this app.
I just installed Day One for Mac after having it on iOS for some time and am loving it. Simple to use with a great interface and kind of stupendously gorgeous to look at. It takes the now-common Tweetie-inspired black sidebar on left UI to a whole new level.
