Name: Ellie (4)
Location: San Jose, CA
It wasn't hard to come up with a color scheme for Ellie's 4th birthday, she'd been telling me she wanted a "brown" party since October! We decided to add in touches of her other favorite color, purple.
We went for a simplistic look, focusing on the color scheme and some fun winter elements, such as a mini Christmas tree, ribbons and bows, and DIY snow globe kits. We also included two big balloons and a hot chocolate station, complete with giant marshmallows on a stick.
We served Ellie's favorite meal, macaroni and cheese, with fruit on the side. A triple layer chocolate cake with four purple candles finished off the day.
Thanks Miranda! Readers, see more of Ellie's party on Swoon Studio.

Shaw's Original Fir...
What a sweetie. It makes me so happy to see that you went with her theme instead of laughing it off.
very nice but the hot choc - silly cow farms, dreadful packaging design. Aesthetic, yes. Practical no! does any spoon fit down that funnel!! no!
Super cute
if my 4 year old had a brown themed party there would be a lot of potty humor! : )
your cake looks perfect! simple but elegant. would you share your recipe (frosting, too)?
@RINNAWT I totally agree! I bought it because I loved the little milk bottle and cow, but it was really hard to use! I discovered a baby can fit through the top, but still leaves a mess everywhere :)
@ACFNYC8 I wish I had an elegant recipe to offer! I was so pressed for time that I used a dark chocolate cake mix and my Mom made a simple frosting using dark chocolate cocoa, powdered sugar, vanilla and water (I think). She also frosted the cake. She told me a secret when she frosted it, though. After the cake cools and you've put a layer of frosting between cake layers, brush the crumbs off and apply a very thin layer of frosting over the cake first to seal in any crumbs and to make it look like one big cake instead of layers. Once that dries a little, you can frost as normal!
Haha, a baby can't fit through the top, that would be a baby SPOON!
I'm loving the invites! Pinned them for future reference. Love the sweet simplicity of this.
Beautiful! The garland is so cute and simple and I love the party idea. This is gorgeous, kid-friendly but simple enough to feel doable. Thanks for sharing!
