What a man, what a man, what a mighty good (little) man. Tara shares a party in honor of her little man's first birthday: My son Beckett was turning one, and I wanted to throw a memorable party that everyone would enjoy! Since I am a graphic designer, I naturally was really excited to design the invitations, and decided to run with a 'little man' theme, since Beckett has always been quite the little man in our lives.
I made felt mustaches on sticks, as well as handmade bow ties on sticks, so guests could wear those around. I wanted to create a really fun environment, and filled the house with balloons and paper poms hung from the ceiling. I made a necktie 'Happy Birthday Beck!' banner and randomly hid mustaches on photos throughout the house.
The guests' favorite was a photo booth we set up in a corner, complete with a 'Bucket O' Props' that included big glasses, top hats, neckties and of course mustaches! Guests could feast on chocolate cigars and necktie cookies, along with cupcakes that I decorated with individual handmade bow ties. The 'little man' himself was decked out in a little tie & converse high tops and looked quite snazzy! The party was perfect not only for all the kids, but for the adults as well, who doesn't love dressing up?!
Thanks Tara! Readers, you can see more of Beckett's party (aka steal more great ideas!) on Tara's blog Cracked Designs. If you like funny cards, you should also check out her shop of the same name.

As a graphic designer myself, I totally appreciate your invitation and sign! Well done, they're great. Love the theme—what a lucky little man he is. :)
Really cute & original!
I happened to stumble across this posting of your Little Man's party. I am just beginning to research my son's 1st birthday coming up this September. I have to say that your party is just so lovely and inspirational. Your invites are fantastic and faux 'stashes are fabulous. I felt particularly inclined to comment because I noticed the address on your invite and was very excited to know that we are practically neighbors in Bayview. How wild is that?! In my research of all the internet I happened upon some great design idea's from my own neighborhood! Perhaps I'll see you @ the farmers market or chill on the hill. :)
