Name: Veda Jane (1)
Location: Birmingham, AL
I had so much fun putting this party together for Veda Jane. I was itching to entertain (and lets be honest, needed an excuse to craft), and seeing how this has been the most eventful year of my life, a proper party celebrating the one who changed it only seemed fitting.
I wanted to keep it simple though, so I threw a little snack gathering for her playgroup buddies at the park and featured her favorite dishes dishes: goldfish, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, cookies, and cake! The "tablecloth" is wrapping paper that triggered my coral and navy theme for the whole thing, and I ordered the paper bags for invitation envelopes and paper straws off of Etsy. The cake was simple, made from a box, polka dotted with candy melts and topped with a paper "V". I pre-canned peach strawberry juice in jars, set out a few picnic blankets, and enjoyed the afternoon with friends!
I know she's only 1, and she won't remember it until she goes back and reads her diary entry all about it one day, but I like to think that she she felt the love last Thursday while she splashed in the baby pool and downed 14 pieces of watermelon.
Thanks Laura, we're sure she did! Readers, find Laura at Twirl.

I always fail to understand why it's so hard for some people to stick to the 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all' rule. Why put the energy into commenting if you are only going to spew negativity? I think it's an adorable party, love the vintage feel.
Love the original and vintage style! Also love your little girl's name! Veda reminds me of "My Girl," a wonderful film. Good job and don't let someone's misdirected bitterness get you down.
Simply beautiful, and beautifully simple!
Huh? What was that first comment all about?
My first thought was how wonderful..not a THEME party but don't get me wrong, I love theme parties but this one had such a sweetness and simplicity to it that it made me want to jump right into the picture and join the fun. Nicely done. 14 pieces of watermelon!!?? :o)
I love the cake stands - are they vintage?
Thanks guys! I had fun putting it together! They cake stands aren't vintage- they're from TJ Maxx!
I love it. Simple and sweet! :)
I think it's gorgeous and the cake is so sweet and simple but absolutely beautiful! And I love the ribbon banner.

Agree with @jessicalynnw and @lyonstill - regardless of whether something meets your personal taste, would you make your comment to someone in person? @Mntngr , since you are so against kid posts in general and resent that AT turning into a "mommy blog", why not just ignore them? The more comments AT gets (good or bad), the more interested they see people are in the content.
Sorry, this will be my last comment, but I was so distracted reacting to immaturity that I totally missed that adorable romper Veda Jane is wearing in the photo being held by her mom. I love the lace and the coral color - Laura, could you tell me where you found it or did you make it?
Glad I missed that first post. I really like the simplicity of this party, but wish to see that first pic in more vivid colors. Everything looks lovely. Also, love the invitation idea!
Thanks for your sweet comments (and the support against the comment that is gone now from a person who apparently hates AT's kid posts & "instagram"!) ArabellaJane (love your name!), the romper was on clearance at Baby Gap :)
