Best Kids Parties: Airplanes

My Party

Name: "B" (6)
Location: Navarre, FL

Our son loves airplanes of all kinds, and so for his 6th birthday he wanted an aviation theme.

We chose a bright color scheme of red, gray, and navy. We covered foam core board with maps to use as a backdrop, and hung a colorful bunting (from tinamagee on Etsy) across the maps with our own added red ribbons. The presents were wrapped in coordinated wrapping paper and decorated with another handmade bunting on wire and some paper airplanes.

I baked the white chocolate and raspberry cake my son requested, iced it with tinted blue white chocolate icing, and topped it with Dad-made paper airplanes strung on thin gauge wire. His favorite presents were the realistic-but-child-size pilot hat (ordered off Amazon), a Star Wars paper airplane book, and a surprise trip to our local airport for an actual flying lesson in a 4-seater plane! He was so excited that the instructor gave him his own flight log book!
